Patient Transaction Screen – Entering Treatment Using the Service Code Icon

< Back

To enter treatment or codes from the Transaction screen using the Service Code icon:

  • Click on the    Service Code icon at the top of the Transaction screen and the Service Code list will appear. You can also press [F9] or double click on the code column to open the Service Code list.
  • To narrow down your code selection, click on one of the Category buttons to the left. For example, if you would like to list only preventive codes, you can click on Preventive.

Tip: You can change to another Category at any time by clicking on a different Category button.

  • Select a code to add to a patient Transaction screen by clicking with the left mouse button and click on OK.
  • If you would like to select more than one code, you can highlight each code you need by clicking once with the left mouse button. Each code that you have selected will appear in the column on the right. The Total(s) will be listed on the bottom of this window.
  • Each line of treatment that is listed in this window will be added to the Transaction screen when you click OK.
  • If you would like to select the same code more than once, just click again on the code and it will appear again in the column to the right.
  • If you want to remove a code from the list that you have selected, click on the code in the white selected list box on the right side and it will be removed. It will also subtract this amount from the total at the bottom of the screen.
  • Click on [OK] when finished.

Selection windows will open at various fields, depending on how the cursor movement was set up in Service Codes for this code. For example, a tooth chart will open at the tooth field if you have set the cursor movement to “Yes” for this service. If you make a mistake, you can double click on the field to edit.

Tip: If you do not want the selection window to continue opening for this line of treatment, simply click on Close.

Enter a forward slash (/) for the current date. Treatment that is dated will be added to the patient balance. If you have the cursor movement set to Y, the calendar will appear so that you can select the date from the calendar using the mouse. The calendar is always highlighted on the current date. If you are entering the current date, just click [OK] on the calendar to date the treatment.

Tip: The Auto-Date can be turned on by clicking on Edit in the menu bar. A checkmark indicates that the Auto-Date is turned on. The current date is then automatically entered. You can turn off the Auto-Date before leaving the screen by going back to Edit and clicking again to remove the checkmark.
